We both initially started as scuba divers, exploring the depths with tanks and gear. Isa's journey began at an incredibly young age; she learned to swim before she could even walk, thanks to a baby swim class! As for Maria, her love for the ocean has always been a part of her life. She had been exploring the ocean´s beauty through scuba diving while traveling around the world. We serendipitously crossed paths while snorkeling with mutual friends, and that's when everything changed. The idea of exploring the ocean with just one breath was a revelation, a profound connection to the sea that we just couldn't resist.
Transforming our passion into a lifestyle is a deeply personal choice. The ocean isn't merely a sport or hobby for us; it's a way of life, a form of meditation that allows us to connect with ourselves on a profound level. The ocean possesses a unique ability to calm our minds and nourish our spirits. It has given us so much, and we feel compelled to reciprocate that love. As frequent visitors to the underwater realm, we encounter distressing scenes, from picking up trash on every dive to witnessing injured animals. These experiences drive our mission to raise awareness about the challenges our oceans face.
One of the most significant threats to marine life is bycatch. The fishing industry, unfortunately, often results in the unintentional capture of non-target species, leading to the death or injury of animals such as dolphins, mantas, sharks, and so much more. Bycatch stands as the leading cause of animal deaths. Additionally, pollution, particularly plastic waste, poses a considerable risk. Every dive reveals the disturbing reality of the millions of tons of plastic dumped into our oceans.
Scuba diving is a form of underwater diving where the diver uses a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (scuba) to breathe underwater.
Free diving is a form of underwater diving where the diver holds their breath rather than using scuba gear.
The main difference between scuba diving and free diving is that scuba divers use tanks of compressed air to breathe underwater, whereas free divers hold their breath.
